⭐ Recommendations: Skewers of course! Wonton, Dandan mian
For an authentic slice of Chengdu in the heart of Shanghai, Gui Shu Di is the one to go. For whom you've never heard of Chengdu, it's a city abundant of street foods part of the Sichuan area. This charming little skewer joint captures the spirit of Sichuan street food with an irresistibly spicy, numbing hot oil broth that hits you as soon as you step through the door — “a red oil aroma explosion,” will be the first thing you notice.
Interior decor reminds me of Chengdu artwork and vintage photos, wrapping you in a cosy, firecracker atmosphere. The menu is extensive — from spicy beef to the classic laoma pig’s trotter stew, every skewer soaks up the aromatic broth and packs a punch.
Tips to avoid waiting - avoid peak hours and also great for late-hour bites with friends.

⭐ Recommendations: Choose your own skewers and make your own sauce, highly recommend dessert after spicy hotpot!
This is one of my unforgettable skewers in hotpot place in Shanghai. Blending Sichuan hotpot tradition with a teahouse twist, Ming He Shan Fang brings is a successful brand that first launched from Shanghai.
As always, spicy food place in Shanghai tends to have the best dessert. You can try chinese traditional grave ice slush and bubble tea, all in one place!

"Trying skewers or skewer hotpot for the first time? Skip the white clothes—wear something washable. They can get oily and smell like skewers—speaking from experience!"
